Extra Credit: Going Above & Beyond For Our Schools
What if earning money for your school was as easy as using your debit card? It is with our Extra Credit for Schools program!
With the start of a new school year just weeks away, it’s time to start gearing up for the back-to-school rush. Before you get too bogged down with carpools and homework, sign up for the Extra Credit program and start earning extra money for your favorite school!
Participating in the program is as easy as 1-2-3.
1. Select a school
Within online banking, click on the checking account to enroll in the program. Next, visit the Account Details page and click on Debit Card Rewards. Finally, select your favorite school.*
2. Choose credit at checkout
To earn Extra Credit, a purchase you make with your debit card will need to be processed as credit. Just ask the cashier how to run the transaction as credit before you dip your chip. The funds will still be deducted from your checking account in the same manner as a PIN-based debit transaction. Choosing credit simply sends your transaction down a different path toward earning Extra Credit for your school.
3. Watch the earnings add up!
Each time you make a purchase with your debit card and choose credit, you’ll earn your school up to 10¢ for every purchase you make—regardless of the transaction amount! This can add up to serious earnings for your school, especially if all of its supporters are enrolled in the program.
Spread the Word
We want our community’s schools to earn as much as possible and will gladly partner with you to make it happen. Just submit a request for:
- A speaker at your PTA/PTO meeting
- Flyers to send home with students
- Having your school added to the program
Please note that only an authorized representative of the school, such as the principal, may submit a request to be added.
*The MIDFLORIDA Extra Credit School Rewards Program is for elementary, middle and high schools within MIDFLORIDA Credit Union’s service area. Only one school can be selected per checking account. The 10¢ per transaction may be subject to change without notice. To earn the per-transaction donation, you must use your debit card as a credit when making purchases. Purchases made using a PIN or transactions at any ATM will not earn Extra Credit. Donated monies are accrued daily and paid annually, and do not earn interest. To receive the annual payout, the school’s balance of money earned must reach a minimum of $25. If the minimum is not met, the balance will carry over to the following year, up to a maximum of four payout periods. Schools must be registered with MIDFLORIDA’s Extra Credit School Rewards Program to participate. Freedom Banking does not qualify for debit card rewards.
