14th Annual Gift of Reading

The 14th Annual Gift of Reading program kicks off in November!

Volunteers from MIDFLORIDA’s staff, senior management, and board of directors will visit schools throughout our service area to read Little Penguin Gets the Hiccups by Tadgh Bentley to kindergartners. Students not only enjoy a fun reading session, but they even get to take home their very own copy of the book! Each classroom and participating school's media center also receives the book, all compliments of MIDFLORIDA. Each year, the book is selected by a Polk County School Board committee.

Committed to the community

Since MIDFLORIDA started as the Polk County Teacher's Credit Union in 1954, we've felt a strong commitment to help support schools, students, and educators whenever we can. Through this year's Gift of Reading program alone, we're able to directly affect 748 teachers, 162 schools, and almost 17,000 students!

Programs like Gift of Reading wouldn't be possible without our members. MIDFLORIDA, like all credit unions, is not-for-profit. Rather than lining our pockets with profits like big banks, we give back to the community in the form of sponsorships, donations, and programs like Gift of Reading.
