How to Send Payments with Zelle® at MIDFLORIDA

Discover how to easily send and receive money with Zelle® directly through MIDFLORIDA’s online and mobile banking. This guide walks you through setup, safety tips, and how to make fast, secure payments.

In today’s digital world, payment platforms have become essential tools for managing money quickly and conveniently. Whether you're splitting the cost of a dinner bill, paying your babysitter, sending money to a family member, or even some light investing, payment platforms make it easy to send and receive money electronically — often in just a few minutes for enrolled users.

There are many payment platforms, each with their own unique features:

  • Venmo® and Cash App® allow users to hold balances, make purchases, and even invest.
  • PayPal® is widely used for online shopping and international transfers.
  • Zelle® is designed for direct peer-to-peer payments making it ideal for fast, safe payments between people you know and trust.

Why MIDFLORIDA Has Partnered with Zelle®

MIDFLORIDA Credit Union has chosen Zelle® as its preferred payment platform because it offers our members a fast and easy way to send money directly between U.S. bank accounts using just an email address or U.S. mobile number. Payments between enrolled users can be completed within minutes, and no separate app is required. That’s right! Zelle® is built right into MIDFLORIDA’s online banking website and mobile app. This integration ensures:

  • Convenience: No need to download or manage a third-party app
  • Security: Your account information is protected by MIDFLORIDA’s banking technology
  • Speed: Funds are available to enrolled recipients in minutes

How Quickly Funds Are Received

One of the biggest advantages of Zelle® is speed—but it’s important to understand how it works. Funds are typically available within minutes when the recipient is already enrolled with Zelle®. If the person you’re sending money to isn’t enrolled yet, they’ll receive a notification prompting them to sign up. Until they complete enrollment, your payment will remain pending. To avoid delays, confirm that your recipient is enrolled and that you have the correct email address or U.S. mobile number on file.

Business Banking with Zelle®

Zelle® isn’t just for personal transactions, it’s also a smart solution for MIDFLORIDA members with eligible business accounts. To enroll in Zelle® small business with MIDFLORIDA, members need an eligible business account and an online banking profile.

After enrolling through Online Banking, business owners can request and receive payments using a customer’s U.S. mobile phone number or email address, eliminating the need to share sensitive account details. With Zelle®, business owners gain a fast and convenient way to pay suppliers and receive payments without relying on cash or checks.

Staying Safe: Fraud Awareness with Payment Platforms

While digital payments are convenient, they can include certain risks. MIDFLORIDA will never ask you to send money via Zelle® or call you requesting that you send money to a specific recipient. If you receive a call or message asking you to send money and you're unsure, stop and call MIDFLORIDA directly at 863-688-3733 before taking any action. Here are a few best practices for safe use:

  • Know: Only send money to people you know and trust.
  • Verify: Double check the recipient’s name, U.S. mobile number, or email before sending.
  • Be Aware: If something feels off, trust your instincts and investigate.

Avoid using Zelle® for high-risk transactions, such as buying items from online marketplaces or sending money to unfamiliar contacts. Payments made with Zelle® are like cash— once the money is sent, it’s difficult to get back.
