Dispute FAQs

Under federal law (Regulation E), consumers have the right to a prompt investigation of any error involving your debit card or electronic transfers. If we cannot complete our investigation within 10 business days (or 20 for new accounts), we will provide provisional credit for the disputed amount while we continue to investigate. Most investigations are completed within 45 days, but certain cases may take up to 90 days.

Any documentation that can help prove the situation is helpful! This can be receipts, order confirmations, proof of cancellation, and any attempts to resolve the dispute with the merchant.

A form is not required to file a dispute with MIDFLORIDA.

A non-fraud dispute can generally be filed up to 120 days after the transaction was posted to your account. Fraud claims should be reported within 60 days from the statement date on which the transaction is first reflected. It is important to note that your liability depends on how quickly you report the issue.

Incorrect charges can be

  • Duplicate transactions
  • Merchandise or service not received
  • Returns not refunded and the merchant agreed to issue a refund
  • Canceled services
  • Incorrect amount charged

Because your card is so valuable, be sure to contact us as soon as you realize your card is missing. We're available 24/7 for you to report a lost or stolen debit card or suspicious activity using your debit card:
  • Within the US, call 1-833-933-1681
  • International, call 1-812-647-9794

To help prevent fraud, MIDFLORIDA employs a service to watch for debit card activity which may not match your normal purchasing pattern. As a result, there are occasions, where you will need to be reached to confirm card activity. If you cannot be reached, the use of your card may be impacted. To avoid having your card blocked, make sure that we have your correct contact information by calling the Help Desk, update the information in online banking or visit a branch.

You can manager your card under "My Cards" on the "Accounts" tab in online banking or "Cards" in our mobile app.

Timely reporting is critical to protect your account. Your liability depends on how quickly you report the issue:

  • Report within 2 business days of learning of the loss or theft of your debit card: Maximum liability is $50.
  • Report after 2 business days of learning of the loss or theft of your debit card but within 60 days of your statement being sent: Maximum liability is $500.
  • Report more than 60 days after your statement was sent: You may be responsible for all unauthorized transactions for all unauthorized transactions made after the 60-day period.
