Overdraft coverage options

Explore ways to help cover transactions when you don't have enough money in your checking account.

Find the right coverage for your checking account

There are different ways to help manage transactions when your checking account balance is low. Some options transfer money from another account, while others allow MIDFLORIDA to pay eligible transactions on your behalf. Here's how each option works:

Overdraft Transfers

Automatically transfer available funds from a linked savings account or line of credit to help cover transactions when your checking balance is low.

Overdraft Protection

MIDFLORIDA may pay eligible checks and automatic payments when you don't have enough money in your checking account.

Overdraft Transfers

With Overdraft Transfers, you can link an eligible MIDFLORIDA savings account or line of credit to your checking account. If you don't have enough money in checking to cover a transaction, we'll automatically transfer available funds or credit from your linked account to help cover the difference.

  • You must enroll and link an eligible account.
  • Transfers are subject to available funds or credit.
  • A fee applies each time a transfer is made.
  • Line of credit transfers are also subject to the terms of your credit agreement.

Overdraft Protection

A forgotten payment or unexpected expense can leave your checking account short. Overdraft Protection gives MIDFLORIDA the discretion to pay certain transactions even when there isn't enough money available in your account. This coverage applies to checks, ACH transactions and recurring debit card transactions, such as subscriptions or automatic bill payments.

  • Eligible accounts are automatically enrolled after 30 days.
  • No action is required to enroll if your account qualifies.
  • Overdraft fees will apply when a transaction is paid.
  • You are responsible for repaying any negative balance and applicable fees.
  • You can request to remove this coverage at any time.

Overdraft Protection Plus

Want additional coverage for debit card purchases and ATM withdrawals? Overdraft Protection Plus extends your overdraft coverage to these transactions. For example, if you make a purchase with your debit card but don't have enough money in your checking account, MIDFLORIDA may authorize and pay the transaction instead of declining it.

  • You must qualify and opt in to enroll.
  • Coverage applies to eligible one-time debit card purchases and ATM withdrawals.
  • Overdraft fees may apply when a transaction is paid.
  • You can cancel or opt out at any time.

Yes, depending on your account eligibility. You may be able to link an eligible savings account or line of credit for Overdraft Transfers while also having Overdraft Protection or Overdraft Protection Plus. The way these services work together depends on your account settings.

Yes. If MIDFLORIDA covers a transaction that exceeds your available balance, you'll need to repay the negative balance along with any applicable fees.

If you use Overdraft Transfers from a line of credit, the amount transferred will be added to your outstanding loan balance, and you'll receive a bill for repayment. Overdraft Transfers from savings use your own money and do not need to be repaid.

Even if you are enrolled in Overdraft Protection, certain account conditions may temporarily affect your coverage. This service will not be available if:

  • Your checking account balance has a negative balance greater than $30 for more than 15 days.
  • You have a loan payment that is more than 10 days past due.

Once these issues are resolved, your eligibility for coverage may be restored the next business day. Enrollment in Overdraft Protection does not guarantee that transactions will be approved.
