Are External Accounts the same as Linked Accounts?
Good question, they are actually different within MIDFLORIDA's Free Online Banking.
- The External Accounts section is an account aggregation tool. It allows you to see your non-MIDFLORIDA accounts in the same place as your MIDFLORIDA accounts to give you a more comprehesive look at your finances. Essentially, it is a view-only look and cannot be used to transfer money.
- Linked Accounts is an account-to-account tool to move money. This is sometimes referred to as A2A banking and is for transferring money between accounts owned by the same person. With MIDFLORIDA's Linked Accounts, you can transfer funds but you cannot see account history.
How to set up an External Account
In Free Online Banking, External Accounts can be found on the Overview screen on desktop and at the bottom of the Account Summary screen on mobile. Select the Add an Account button, and a setup tool will pop up to walk you through the steps. You will need your online login credentials to complete the setup.
